How long does a technical SEO audit take?
Short answer
Usually one to three weeks from the day data access is granted. The time depends on how many distinct templates the site has, how many platforms and languages are in scope, and whether server logs are available, not on how many URLs it has.
What decides the timeline
- The number of templates. A site with 40,000 product pages on one template audits faster than a site with 300 pages on 25 templates.
- The number of platforms. A corporate site and a webshop on different systems are two audits, even under one brand.
- Access. Waiting for Search Console, analytics or log exports is the most common delay, and it happens before any analysis starts.
What a fast audit leaves out
An audit delivered in two days usually means a crawler export with a summary. It lists symptoms by URL but cannot say which template causes them, which ones cost traffic, or what a developer should change. The extra time goes into grouping, Search Console mapping and the fix file.
How to make it faster
Grant read access to Search Console and analytics on day one, send a list of your main templates, and export a week of server logs if you can. That removes most of the waiting.
Send the problem. Get a scoped proposal.
Within 24 hours you get a fixed scope, a delivery window and a price, or a short note saying we are not the right agency for it.
